Drew Engman here. I am a 50-something late bloomer baby boomer. Grew up in Burbank, weekended in Pinon Hills, moved up here to the south western Mojave desert in late late 1979/early 1980. Been up here ever since. I played guitar & sang for a living '80-91, worked, went to school, & now I'm a teacher. Life is good!

Hi, I'm Drew. I was born in Burbank, the youngest child of an acclaimed Disney animator. I collected comic books as a kid, grew into SF and Fantasy in my early teens. I played guitar and sang for a living from 1980 to 2000, then became a teacher. I've been living here in Pinon Hills for 24+ years, married to Vicki the whole time. Life is an incredible adventure.

The Way - A Poem for God by Drew E.

The Way

I fall behind, I run ahead, I go off to the side
Sometimes I drop my fig leaves and don’t even try to hide
Why in the world would You take all my sins upon yourself?
Then tell me you still would, for me and everyone else!

How can I get that through my head, alive, inside my heart?
My best day on earth still pierced you like a dart
And I’m too old and obvious to fake it like a kid
Jesus, take me, here and now, in spite of what I do, or did

I know I’m one more stumbler in this gilded world of sin
Not some grievous angel who can simply fly back in
But death is not our destination, just the valley we all dread
Before we face The One who gave us Living Wine and Bread

So please know me, Lord, look deep, and see my hopes and fears
I share them with you now in faith and love and tears
In this world I fall, I fail, I stumble, and I stray
But I look up from my failures and I know You are The Way

Drew's Getting Healthy!

Hello friends,

Vicki and I are training for our big hiking goal of being able to complete
the Mt. San Gorgonio long hike on Saturday, July 15th, 2006.

Before that hike we are doing as many hikes as we can, mainly on Saturdays.
I am emailing to invite you to come and enjoy some of those day hikes with
us until then. We have been picking good hikes in areas that are OK to do in
winter. As Spring comes we will be doing more walking in the mountains at
higher elevations.

I have lots of information on the San Gorgonio hike for those interested,
and if you would like to hang out on the trail with us between now and then,
drop us an email and we can plan a day together. We love companions and I
say "the more the merrier!"

We usually reward ourselves after our hiking
with dinner out, or we can picnic, or ?, you name it, we're game.

Come and share the fun and help us get fit. Use it or lose it, they say. I'd
like to keep it until I'm done, if you know what I mean!
